A Test Drive with Surprising Results

Like many building service contractors (BSCs), Rita Vitaliano with Universal Building Services, right outside of San Francisco, California, decided the best way to select a new floor machine was to take a few of them out for a test drive.

Because Vitaliano is also a jansan distributor, she chose three floor machines from three different well-known manufacturers for the test drive.  The site selected was the gym floor of a local school.  The three machines were run side by side using a maroon floor pad, a general-purpose pad that is often used on finished gym floors in preparation for a fresh coat of finish.

Because many floor machines are similar to their competitors, Vitaliano, like most BSCs, was essentially looking for the one that handled the best; was moderately priced; and had features that set it apart from the other machines.

However, she was in for a surprise.  One machine not only had more features than the other models, it did a noticeably superior job.  That floor machine: Tornado’s® new P Series electric floor machine.

The P Series 17- and 20-inch, 175-rpm floor machines have a powerful 1.5-horsepower, cool-running motor under the hood that provides consistent polishing, scrubbing, and stripping speeds.  And because the P Series has better contact pressure than the other models tested, the machine was able to “complete the job faster with greater ease of use,” according to Vitaliano.

Vitaliano also noticed that the machine has a single-piece, rotationally molded housing similar to what is found on many of today’s most innovative carpet extractors.  This makes the machine tough and durable, yet easier to maneuver and transport.  It also has safety features such as an improved safety lock system to prevent accidental operation and a one-piece metal handle tube for better control, switch, and cord security.
